It has emerged that so sure of a win are members of the Jubilee and Orange Party Movement (ODM) parties, that some are already placing bets ahead of the Kibra MP race.
Jubilee has since fronted McDonald Mariga as its candidate, while the ODM flag in the race is being carried by Imran Okoth, in a race which also includes other candidates.
However, to confirm confidence that their parties will win, it has emerged that Sirisia MP John Waluke of Jubilee Peter Kaluma (Homa Bay) of ODM have gone a step further.
The two have placed a Sh1 million bet each, in a contest dubbed the "Kibra Challenge", with each confirming the same to the People Daily.
It has also emerged that ODM leader Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto are not taking any chances, with Raila deploying a strong team to lead the campaigns.
The team comprises MPs John Mbadi (Suba East), Opiyo Wandayi (Ugunja) and Junet Mohammed (Suna East), who also expressed the party's confidence in winning.
He said that what remains is widening the margin of the win.
“The question about Kibra is not about winning. This one we are sure about winning. The issue is by what margin. What we are aiming at is about widening the margin between us and our opponents. My appeal to everyone is to conduct their campaigns in a peaceful manner devoid of violence and bribery,” he told the paper on phone.
On the Jubilee side, the DP is said to have deployed MPs John Kiarie (Dagoretti South) and Nixon Korir (Langata) to deliver the seat to the ruling bloc.
