And forget the hustle of Nairobi; this is the town where all the powerful people, including former presidents, own homes.

Here are the figures whose hearts are in Nakuru:

1. Chief Justice David Maraga

The CJ has a house in the quiet Kiamunyi estate. He acquired this property when he served in Nakuru as a magistrate.

2. President Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta

Through his family, Uhuru owns the popular Gicheha farm in Rongai constituency. This is an expansive farm with dairy cattle.

Those who have been given access to the farm say there is a 'state house'. Uhuru had at one time during campaigns in Nakuru said he will renovate the house and start running the country from the home.

3. Former President Mwai Kibaki

Kibaki owns a piece of farm in Bahati popularly known as Gingalili farm. The property is worth billions and there were talks in 2016 that the Kibaki family would set up a gated community in the area. It's not clear if the plans are still on.

4. Retired President Daniel Moi

Moi's Kabarak home was the seat of power when he was the president. He also retreated to this home which is in Kabarak, Rongai, where he whiles the time away from the trappings of power.

He also owns Kabarak University and several properties in Nakuru town such as the building housing Seguton hotel and Trans National bank.

5. Kiraitu Murungi

According to sources, Kiraitu is the proud owner of Sokoni Plaza - a modern business building at the heart of CBD with hundreds of stalls.
