Speaking at a function in Malinya, Kakamega county, where several leaders attended, including DP Ruto, Jumwa narrated how the president spoke about the 'wandering' deputy, in a past event.

About a year ago, Uhuru was quoted saying ""Hii Kijana anaitwa Ruto unajua kila weekend anatangatanga kila pahali atakuwa anapitia hizi machoro choro mkiona kuna kitu inaenda kona kona mumwambie."

In a video shared on Facebook, the vocal legislator reminded the gathering that the president's intention was to advise Kenyans to take most of their development concerns to his principal assistant (Ruto) as he tackles other issues of importance.

"At that time, the president was speaking in the company of William Samoei Ruto. He said, 'This young man (Ruto) likes wandering around. If you find him, ask him about water, roads and other government projects. He will fix them'," said Jumwa in the video.

According to the MP, the Tanga Tanga movement was eventually conceived after the president's speech.

The vocal legislator, therefore, told the residents to demand government development projects and programs from the Deputy President as advised by the president.

"Now that he (President) had said that Ruto would be wandering and all government development issues and projects should be channelled to him means that there are no other concerned people on the same other than him if one was to progress," remarked Jumwa.

The rebel ODM MP further defended the Tanga Tanga movement, arguing it abided by the directive issued by the president while claiming that the other faction, known as Kieleweke was against it.
