On Monday, Jubilee Vice Chairman and Uhuru's trusted ally David Murathe accused Jubilee house leadership of underperformance, a move that did not go well with Ruto's camp.

“We cannot have a situation where our party leadership in Parliament is opposing the government. When you start threatening that you will go against the government, what you are doing is actually casting aspersions on the judgment of the President,” Mr Murathe said at Kanjai PCEA church.

He added: "If you are a majority leader and you say you will throw out the name forwarded there by the President, what you are doing is undermining the appointing authority, when you are supposed to be rallying members to support the names the president sends."

In recent times, Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen (Senate) and Adan Duale (National Assembly) along with Chief Whip Benjamin Washiali, have publicly differed with government's position.

The trio, who have since hit back at Murathe, are close associates of DP William Ruto.

“I do not respond to the likes of Murathe. Those are his personal opinions because, really, he is not a spokesperson for anybody,” Murkomen said, adding that he's aware of planned Jubilee retreat.

On his part, Washiali accused Murathe of being gray in basic constitutional matters adding that the current set up does not provide opposition and government in parliament.

"Let him go back to the Constitution and learn the role of Parliament. As it stands, the majority side does not necessarily mean the Executive. No, we no longer have the government and the Opposition sides in Parliament," he said.

This comes after Gatundu South MP  Moses Kuria, another close ally of the DP, ignited a campaign to kick out Jubilee officials allied to President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Besides Murathe, Ruto's team is keen to kick out Secretary General Raphael Tuju, who is jointly accused with Murathe of sabotaging the DP's 2022 plans.

“We are the only major political party with no space for politicians. The time has come for Jubilee Party to open up space for political participation. Party elections are long overdue,” Mr Kuria said on his Facebook page.

In his warning, Murathe had indicated that those in house leadership could be removed for allegedly sabotaging President Uhuru Kenyatta's agenda.
