Curtains of the second edition of the Nyanza regional Chapa Dimba na Safaricom finals came down at the Kisumu’s Moi Stadium on Sunday afternoon, with new champions being crowned in both the boys’ and girls’ categories.

Kisumu’s Manyatta United won the Boys’ title after thrashing Nyamira Country’s Nyamira Springs 5-0 in the Boy’s Category final, shortly after Homabay County’s NCEOD Queens had defeated hosts Manyatta Ladies 3-0 in the girls’ final.

Manyatta United reached the final after sailing past Migori County’s Nyamaharaga FC, Nyamira Springs defeated Victory Strikers, Manyatta Ladies beat Kisii Ladies, while NCEOD Queens went past Migori Education Centre in semifinal matches on Saturday.

Benson Ochieng of Manyatta United and Yvonne Ogada of NCEOD Queens were the top scorers with 5 and 7 goals respectively.

The winners will now represent Nyanza in the national finals to be held in Meru, June this year.

Nyanza region’s last year’s winners Ombek Red Devils and Plateau Queens failed at the initial stages of the tournament this year.
