In a fiery Tuesday tweet, Ahmednasir claimed that Africa National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi was the new leader of the opposition, a position reserved for ODM's Raila Odinga.

"Musalia Mudavadi is the OFFICIAL leader of the opposition in Kenya," controversial Ahmednasir wrote in his twitter update.

The sentiment follows an uncharacteristically harsh-worded press statement issued by Mudavadi on the State of the Nation just a few days to the 56th Madaraka Day celebrations.

Mudavadi had blasted Uhuru's government over its insatiable appetite of borrowing loans. He further hinted that time had come for the country to establish debt management authority even as the country's debt peg lies close to six trillion.

"Time has come when we now must establish an independent debt management authority. Today the national debt is just shy of Sh6 trillion mark. Most of this money has not been accounted for, but when we ask the government to publish the country’s debt portfolio, they give us a deaf ear,” the ANC leader said in his statement.

Since the handshake deal took effect, the country has remained without a strong opposition that would alternatively put the Jubilee government on the check.
