One major characteristic of terrorists is ambushing. It’s difficult to identify when and where they will hit next.

For this reason, it is important to discuss spots in Kisumu town that can attract terrorist attacks.

1. Varsity plaza

Terrorists are very selective when identifying their targets. Since their main aim is to get the government's attention, they always target government symbols.

The Varsity Plaza hosts Maseno University which has a high population of students with less or no security measures deployed to control, lower or detect terrorism.

2. Swan Center

Swan center hosts many business units including supermarkets, universities and government offices such as the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA). For that reason, the area receives a big crowd daily who visits to receive various services. This makes it prone to terrorist attacks.

3. Kisumu Girls/Boys secondary schools

It's important that the government beefs up security around the periphery of both Kisumu Boys and Kisumu Girls secondary schools.

The two schools remain possible targets for terrorism due to their large population.

In all the above mentioned places, security agencies need to put up extra manpower to ensure that the residents are secure.
