Speaking when he graced the Organization of Africa Trade Unions Unity (OATUU) General Assembly in Nairobi, the president asked the unionists to promote solidarity among different nations across the continent for the sake of trade.

He urged trade unions to push for respect and human dignity for workers across the continent.

“I call on the present leadership of the OATUU to help build the bridges of unity and Pan-Africanism between all the sons and daughters of this continent," he said as quoted by Standard.

"The shortest path to national as well as continental peace and prosperity is for the African nations to come together as one," he added.

President Kenyatta said his government has put in place measures to facilitate free movement of goods and people in the East African region, thereby making it easier for every East African who wishes to work in Kenya.

The Head of State divulged that embracing immigrant labour is a key ingredient to economic development.

"Kenyans understand that the businesses of foreigners add vibrancy and vitality to our economy and increase the opportunity for Kenyans to advance themselves economically," he said.
