Maaalim Mohammed, Kisumu County Commissioner said the government made the massive promotions following many years of stagnation by the officers in a one job group.
Commissioner Maalim on Friday challenged the administrators to reciprocate the governments’ move by fostering peace even as the country gears towards the general elections.
“The County Human Resource Advisory Committee (CHRAC) conducted suitability tests and made recommendations to Principal Secretary (PS) Interior and Coordination for deliberation and which was approved,” said Maalim.
He disclosed that most of the officers have stagnated in one job group for between 7 to 15 years arguing that the gesture should boost the administrators’ morale in their areas of jurisdiction.
Among those who got promoted are 4 Senior Assistant Chiefs who have progressed to job group “L”, 16 Chief grade one, 61 Senior Assistant Chiefs amid others.
The administrators have been placed between job groups “J” to “L”.
Maalim said the national government has over the last 4 years given each Chief and Assistant Chief’s motorcycles thus easing their movement with the former getting quarterly Authority to Incur Expenses (AIE) of 35,000 shillings and 15,000 shillings respectively for office stationery.
The County Commissioner put the officers on high alert, calling them to stay vigilant as the country moves towards the August 8, General Election.
“We have some intelligence reports that a section of the youth may involve in violence and I therefore urge you to swing in swift action in-case of any incidences” he said.
Maalim said a hotline command center had been opened by the county security team where the public will be able share with the security task-force any security threat.
