A newspaper vendor said the men were buying all the papers and left tips to traders."They just asked you to count and pay (sic)," one vendor said.

The situation was the same on Saturday morning.

By 8:00 am, vendors had sold off newspapers, a resident said.

Residents associated the move to the news of a university student who was murdered while seven-month pregnant.

The late student is said to have had a clandestine love relationship with a top Migori County politician.

Though we could not independently verify, a journalist said he had listened to a conversation between the politician and the paged girl begging her to procure an abortion.

The politician argued that as a top leader of a county and a respected church elder, the news of the pregnancy would have been shameful.

On the other hand, the girl decided to carry the pregnancy to term which was interpreted by the politician as a ploy to be blackmailing him.
