A local media had reported about two factions allegedly battling over the control of Nyanza allied to the two supremos.

But Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has dismissed the reports as wishful thinking in an interview.

"Let us not be dragged into such nonsense. Our leaders are working closely and of such cracks exist we would have seen it.

"In ODM, we have freedom of expression and members at times differ. However, I've not seen that happen," he said.

Mr. Orengo and Raila enjoy close relationship with the former acting as party lawyer at the time of need.

After both falling out in Ford Kenya in 1995, they would later join forces in 2007 until today within the ODM party.

Recently, Orengo insisted that Raila must be President further igniting another duel with Deputy President William Ruto.

"Raila is the only man who is fit to lead this nation given his track record. He should join the race," he said at Rangwe.

While Raila has remained mum over 2022, succession politics cannot be ruled out in his Luo Nyanza backyard given his advancing age.
