The East African Community(EAC) and Northern Corridor Development Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) was on Saturday evening involved in the same as he drove to his home in Karen, Nairobi.

He told police officers at the Karen Police station that he was forced to reach out for his pistol, and shoot in the air when he noticed a suspicious vehicle trailing him at around 5.30 pm.

The decision, he said, was fueled by the fact that he did not have a bodyguard at the time, adding that the motorist drove off immediately.

“There was no road rage at all. I was driving home when I realized someone was pursuing me up to my gate. I didn’t have my bodyguard so I reached my gun and shot once to the air and he drove off. Just that,” he was quoted by the Standard.

Confirming the incident, Karen OCPD Cunningham Suinyanka noted that the ex-lawmaker might have indeed reacted in self defence.

“I believe he shot to the air in self-defence. No one was injured during the incident,” the police boss is quoted.

Obura who is a licensed gun holder, noted that he later arrived at his home safely before notifying the police about the incident.

The motorist who was reportedly trailing Obura has since been identified as Robert Kanyango.

No casualty was reported during the incident.
