Over 1,200 litres of Kangara and 10 litres of chang’aa were on Wednesday destroyed during a crackdown carried out in Flamingo Estate, Nakuru.
Speaking when he led the exercise, Nakuru East Deputy County Commissioner Herman Shambi sent a strong warning to those operating illicit brew dens in Nakuru East.
“We cannot tolerate such vices that destroy our society and I call on the community to help us wipe this out. Those operating the illicit brew dens should know that this is a new year and we will come for them,” said the DCC.
The DCC added that they will be writing to the county government of Nakuru over those operating illicit brews in county houses.
He warned chiefs who are accused of allegedly engaging in bribery to allow illicit brew dens to operate in their areas.
“These houses belong to county and we shall be writing to the county government so that stern action is taken against those operating illicit business in the houses,” said DCC Shambi.
