Police are pursuing investigations into an incident where a prominent lawyer was shot dead in broad day light at his home in Lukenya, Machakos County on Sunday.
Robert Chesang' met his untimely death after two gunmen armed with AK47 riffles broke into his house and sprinkled at least seven bullets on him at Moke Gardens Estate while he was alone.
Police said though they were informed of the shootings, they arrived at the scene too late to save him but recovered seven used cartridges of an AK 47 rifle.
Speaking on the incident on Monday, the Law Society of Kenya through a press statement signed by the LSK President Allan Gichuhi condemned the killing and asked the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinett to act with swiftness.
"We call upon the Inspector General of Police and the country’s security apparatus to move with speed and commence investigations into this heinous act and ensure that justice prevails," the statement reads in part.
The body was moved to Shallom Community Hospital's mortuary in Athi River.
Police said motive of the murder was not yet established.
