He hailed the development of the Tatu City project as "one of the fruits of the handshake.""This is one of the fruits of the handshake. That we want to change things, the way things are run. We want to promote unity among all the people of this country. We want to deal with issues of corruption in our country which is a cancer in our country, " the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader said.Raila and Uhuru's handshake came after months of political tension and violence that threatened the country's development and peace, bringing relative calm in the country.

The two have appeared together in public, reiterating their commitment to ensuring that the progress made courtesy of the handshake is not undermined by politics.

Raila's words come amid attacks from Deputy President William Ruto's camp that accuses the veteran opposition leader of plotting to wreck the Jubilee party.

Both Raila and President Uhuru have denied reports that politics was discussed when they held a closed-door meeting at Harambee House last year before publicly shaking hands.
