An exciting political move is looming in the Coast region with the country's biggest political rivals expected to face off in a battle that may decide the country's next President.
The recent decision by the ODM Party led by Raila Odinga to expel two perceived rebel MPs; Aisha Jumwa (Malindi) and Suleiman Dori (Msambweni), has set the 2022 political contest in motion.
Should the party leadership adopt the recommendation, the two vocal MPs who have been drumming up support for the DP will automatically lose their seats, which will lead to a by-election.
With the by-election expected to be a battle between the DP and his political nemesis, the former prime minister, political members are expected to flare with the result likely to determine the outcome of 2022 presidential contest.
A loss for Dr. Ruto will dent his State House prospects. As for Raila, his likely fifth stab at the presidency may receive a major boost.
As for Jumwa and Dori, a loss may leave them fighting to save their careers, leaving them with a mountain to climb in campaigning for the DP's State House bid.
Whatever happens remains to be seen but the the old political rivalry between Ruto and Raila is set to be renewed.
