Coast rights group, Muhuri has issued a statement after Saida Abdulrahman, a 20-year old pregnant girl was abducted and found in Nairobi on Sunday.
"Our reflection this week refers to the increasing developments involving kidnappings across the country.
The society in which we live has become complicated by increasing vices that threaten the very fabric of our moral and national values.
There are unscrupulous people who are constantly looking to devise ways of exploiting vulnerable and disadvantaged people in the community for temporary monetary gain.
We are not safe!Abductions have in the recent past become commonplace and what is worrying is that those perpetrating these heinous acts of aggression know no boundaries.
Media reports have recently indicated gruesome deaths of children below of the age of 10 abducted and killed in cold blood.
These developments should worry us as a country because of the cheapening of life that they institute in the society.
The last couple of days have presented us with one of these emerging challenges of kidnapping with a different worrying angle to it.
Saida Abdulrahman, a 20 year old lady who was eight month pregnant was abducted last week on Thursday in Mombasa.
Our Rapid Response and entire leadership quickly got wind of this development and set out an extensive publicization of the occurrence across all media outlets and networks throughout the country.
After days of concerted efforts involving family networks, the police, and other activists across the country, Saida was found on Sunday in Nairobi where her abductors appeared to have had interest with her unborn child which she lost during her ordeal.
As we continue following up on this case with the police to establish the motivation of the abduction and to find the perpetrators to bring them to justice, we call on all Kenyans to be vigilant the wake of these developments.
Parents should be extra careful with their children and watch out for any suspicious people around you.
