Anthony Kibagendi, the Director of Youth Affairs at the office of the Deputy President, paid a courtesy call to Maangi at his office in Kisii.

The two leaders held discussions on the upcoming rugby extravaganza which is set to held in Kisii during the Easter weekend.

This comes months after Maangi was reported to have slapped Mr Kibagendi following a disagreement.

The two were among the leaders who had turned up to welcome Deputy President William Ruto when he landed in the county to preside over a graduation ceremony at the Kisii University on December 14, 2018.

Kibagendi, however, downplayed the reports maintaining that Maangi attempted to slap him after he told the DG that he won't be elected governor in the 2022 polls.

"What happened is that I was waiting for the DP at Kisii Sports Club, Maangi called me aside and asked why I keep taking Onyonka (Kitutu Chache South MP) to the DP. I told him that the DP and Onyonka have their own friendship then I told him very respectfully that I don't think he can be elected to be governor of Kisii county, which is my opinion. He hurriedly tried to slap me and ran into a group of bodyguards who were standing nearby. That is all," said Kibagendi.

The deputy governor is seeking to succeed Governor James Ongwae after he completes his second and last term in 2022.
