It is a fact that nothing bothers Deputy President William Samoei Ruto more than his 2022 presidential ambition to Statehouse.
This can be seen by the fact that he has started off early but silent campaigns in his favour.
Even as his statehouse dream remains alive, the DP is banking on the political class to help him sell his ideas as the best successor to the incumbent Uhuru Kenyatta.
With this in mind, it is not a secret that Ruto would not be willing to lose this duo before 2022;
1. Okoth Obado
The Migori county boss is steadily gaining ground in the politics of Luo Nyanza. Given the fact that the DP is least preferred in the region, it is obvious that he might be contemplating on using Obado to woe supporters from the backyard.
Secondly, Obado has evidently been reading from a different script with Raila Odinga. Therefore, aggrieved Raila's supporter might find a better place in Obado, thus a milestone for the Deputy President.
2. Aden Duale
The Majority leader is undoubtedly one of the most influential politicians from the expansive North Eastern region. Therefore, having him all through to 2022 is definitely a plus to his ambition.
Furthermore, Duale is among the few Muslim leaders that enjoy influence. With this in mind, if Ruto successfully retains him up to and beyond 2022, then he will be assured of votes from the Muslim fraternity. This will mean that Ruto will have captured votes even up to the coastal region of Kenya that is predominantly occupied by Muslim brethren.
