Each and every indication lately points at a troubled and unwanted Deputy President William Ruto. This is thanks to the unending attacks being fired his way by some politicians allied to his boss, President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The group which is led by Nominated MP Maina Kamanda and former Gatanga lawmaker David Murathe is openly out to quash his 2022 presidential bid, and seems to be using both open and concealed tactics to realize its dream.

The case is not any different to what happened to founding Vice President Jaramogi Oginga who resigned in 1966, after being overwhelmed by the pressure and humiliation piled on him by allies of President Jomo Kenyatta.

The plot was headed by forces close to Kenyatta, including former Attorney General Charles Njonjo.

And the same is the case now, considering that Murathe has for long been seen to be a close confidant of Uhuru.

Prior to his resignation, the group even abolished the KANU Deputy Leader slot to tame Oginga and his presidential ambitions.

A similar thing seems to be growing in Jubilee, with Murathe having vowed to challenge Ruto's eligibility in court, and use all other mechanisms to prevent his presidency.

And in both cases, the assailants had a concrete reason to back their arguments, as while Oginga's offense was his association with communist nations, Ruto is a victim of alleged massive involvement in graft.

In Oginga's case, the President remained silent, apparently not to look bad after Oginga even refused to take over the nation, as is the case now when Uhuru, just like his father, is silent on Ruto's woes after he (Ruto) supported him twice.

But will Ruto complete the remaining part and resign now that the opposite side seems to have joined Uhuru and team in an attempt to push him out? Only time will tell.
