Controversial blogger and socio-political commentator Robert Alai has reacted to the decision by Machakos governor Dr Alfred Mutua to support Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidate Imran Okoth in the Kibra race.
Writing on Twitter on Saturday, the blogger contended that Dr Mutua's foray into Kibra politics was an indication of the opposition being scared by Deputy President Dr William Ruto.
He said that the whole state and opposition machinery had congregated in Kibra to stop the deputy president.
"Just by showing interest in Kibra, @WilliamsRuto has scared everyone. The whole state and opposition machinery is to fight one person. LOL...., " Alai's tweet read.
Dr Alfred Mutua joined veteran opposition and ODM leader at the Jaramogi Oginga Foundation and declared his support for Imran Okoth.
The deputy president has been drumming up support for governing Jubilee candidate in the Kibra race former Harambee Stars forward McDonald Mariga.
The Kibra parliamentary race has been framed in some quarters as a dress rehearsal for the 2022 presidential election with Ruto keen on testing the scale of his support in the capital Nairobi.
McDonald Mariga is seen as a DP Ruto project, a claim that the former Inter Milan player has strongly rejected, saying that the decision to run was a personal one.
DP Ruto was in the constituency last weekend to drum up support for the Jubilee candidate.
Should ODM lose the seat, it will be a big blow for Mr Odinga who is keen to show that Kibra is his turf.
