This is after a video went viral showing him beating up a villager in Mumias, Kakamega County.

According to the activists, the MP's act is uncalled for and that stern actions should be taken against him.

“As Human Rights activists, we want to condemn this act with the strongest terms possible and he should resign since he has shown he is a violent leader,” said Uasin Gishu Centre for Human Rights and Democracy (CHRD) programs officer Kipkorir Ng'etich.

Speaking to the press in Eldoret town on Tuesday, the activists said Washiali, who is also the Mumias East MP has ashamed Parliament, the country and also the President who is his boss in the ruling party.

“We call upon the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) to arrest the MP and be charged since such leaders come 2022 election might be used to propagate violence,” Centre for Human Rights and Mediation (CHRM) CEO Nick Omito added.

The video which has elicited mixed reactions has been widely shared on social media.

However, it is not clear when the incident happened.

The MP is yet to respond to the contents of the video.
