A man was over the weekend murdered, and his vehicle stolen in Mai Mahiu.
According to the police, the man whose body was found dumped in Karima, near Mai Mahiu town might have been hired by the gang, and later killed and his car stolen.
The body has since been identified by relatives, with police sources indicating that he was hired by the gang to collect goods from Nairobi, before they turned against him.
The source claimed this has been the mode of operation by the gang, before they kill their victims and make away with their vehicles.
“No one knows what transpired along the way, but the customers turned against him and made away with his vehicle after murdering him,” he told the Standard.
This is the fourth case where a driver was murdered, and his vehicle stolen in the area within the last two months.
In the first case, a 62-year-old man had his throat slit and his employer's car stolen after he was hired in Nakuru to collect eggs from Mai Mahiu.
Last month, two drivers who had been hired in Kikuyu and Mlolongo were also found killed and their bodies dumped off the Naivasha-Mai Mahiu Road after similar robberies.
The police source now says that officers investigating the cases suspect that they are related.
“We suspect the same gang that has been targeting drivers by hiring them could be behind all the four killings,” he added.
