Embakasi East Member of Parliament Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino has offered to educate the girl whose mother committed suicide for failing to raise her school fees in Kitui.
The flamboyant politician vowed to make sure the girl is educated up to the university level.
Through his social media pages, the vocal legislator asked anyone with information on the girl's whereabouts to contact him.
“This is so sad. Anyone with information leading to the child to kindly contact me, I will ensure that this child is educated to the university level,” said Mr. Owino.
The girl had secured a chance to join Machakos Girls High School in Machakos County and Chogoria Girls High School in Embu after scoring 396 marks in Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams.
Her mother, the late Esther Ndanu Kioko took her life after failing to raise her daughter’s school fees.
The bright young girl had reportedly issued threats to take her life should her family fail to raise her huge school fees.
According to Katulani Sub-County Administration Police commandant Aliphonce Anaswa, the woman’s body was found hanging from a tree on Wednesday by neighbors.
Ndanu’s body was removed to Kitui Level 4 Hospital’s mortuary.
