Kilifi County Governor Amason Kingi has broken his silence on the alleged multi- billion fake gold scandal that has sucked in names of top politicians and government officials.
Governor Kingi now wants politicians to allow independent agencies mandated to do investigations to handle the gold scandal.
The second term governor argues that it is wrong for politicians to assume the roles of investigating agencies on the alleged fake gold scandal.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Governor who spoke during an Iftar dinner hosted by the Malindi Education and Development Foundation in Malindi on Saturday asked politicians to stop crucifying each other over the alleged scandal.
He claimed that some politicians have abandoned their work to debate on who is involved or not involved in the gold scam.
“The people who you should pray for are politicians because during campaigns they promise you a lot but they have abandoned all that immediately they are sworn in and are always attacking each other in funerals,” he said as quoted by Citizen Digital.
Kingi warned that the country might not achieve her development agenda if politicians continue politicking at the expense of development.
The alleged fake gold scandal continues to elicit political debate among politicians even as the Director of Criminal Investigation (DCI) conducts investigations to unravel the truth.
On Saturday, a section of politicians allied to Deputy President William Ruto asked the DCI to probe Raila Odinga over his alleged involvement in the gold saga.
On Friday, Raila distanced himself from the saga, saying that he was only a whistle-blower.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party leader also defended Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Fred Matiang’i against claims that he is involved in the gold saga.
