Both petitions, which were dismissed for lacking merit, had been filed by Jubilee candidates Walter Nyambati (Nyamira) and Chris Obure (through proxies).

In March, Nyagarama's Press Secretary Nyambega Gisesa openly accused Ruto of allegedly funding Nyambati.

"We are aware that Ruto is fighting our governor and Ongwae by financing appeals in Kisumu.

"In fact we are reliably informed that he paid to secure services of Fred Ngatia for Nyambati," claimed the official.

While Ruto's camp remained mum about the allegations, the DP has however been engaging in functions where the two politicians have graced.

And the Thursday's lose could yet again spark heated political tensions from both sides even as Nyambati vowed to move to Supreme Court.

Political analyst Nyachieo Bogonko says Ruto's image could improve if he invites the winners into their camp.

"He has openly campaigned against them and it's now time to mend fences. If he fails to do that, then he should forget."

At the moment, Ruto is using youthful MP Sylvanus Osoro, Jimmy Angwenyi among other legislators to invade the region.
