Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga was jubilant after Gor Mahia triumphed in the CAF Confederations Cup group D match over Hussein Dey on Sunday Afternoon. Raila was seen removing his hat after the second goal in the VIP section of the stadium.

Odinga, whose enthusiasm soared with each goal as Gor marched towards victory on Sunday, clearly showed his happiness to the young team on Twitter after congratulating the players on the pitch at Kasarani stadium.

“Joined fans this afternoon for a thrilling #TotalCAFCC group D match at Kasarani. Congratulations @OfficialGMFC on your 2-0 victory against NA Hussein Dey from Algeria. Thank you to both teams for entertaining football and we wish them all the best in their remaining fixtures” Raila wrote on his Tweeter account after the match.

Odinga displayed great passion throughout the group stages, following the team in all the games that are being played at home.

Following that win, Gor Mahia has now moved top of Group D with six points, Hussein Dey drops to second with four points, Petro Atletico are in third on three points, while Zamalek are bottom of the group with two points. 

Gor’s head coach will now turn their attention to the premier league where they host Tusker on Wednesday.
