Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has begun radical measures to decongest the city traffic.
According to a letter the city boss wrote dated Monday October 15, the governor demanded the relocation of the Murang'a matatu stage which he said was to be taken to Githurai.
Sonko also said that the Kiambu matatus were to relocate their stage to Westlands and Parklands.
"This is to inform you that under the 'Nairobi Regeneration Plan', all the bus stops will be relocated from the Central Business District by 1st November 2018," read the letter in part.
"The First Phase of relocation will start with all bus stops that handle vehicles from Murang'a County and you are therefore expected to relocate them to Githurai 45 bus stop by 19th October 2018," the letter added.
"The Second Phase will be relocation of all vehicles from Kiambu County where the bus stops will be moved to Muthaiga and Westlands where applicable and this must be done by 22nd October 2018."
Sonko also said that by November 1, all bus stops would have been relocated from the CBD.
