Most of us put much effort to ensure that our physical health is closely monitored forgetting about our emotional health.
We always visit the hospitals for physical check ups but never have we remembered to do a psychological check up. We react more often to physical pain compared to emotional pain which should be considered seriously.
1. Remembering past memories
Recalling past memories of how distressful an event was, only affects your emotions and has no effect on the body. This only causes increased emotional pain on what you went through.
2. Lowering self-esteem
Physical pain can't be compared to rejection, anxiety, fear of failure or even loneliness that are associated with emotional pain. All these make a person feel worthless and neglected which might have a diverse and negative effect on their lives later in life.
3. Unpredictability
Emotional pain strikes any time even on the days you could be feeling emotionally secure. A simple unrelated discomfort can lead to an emotional outbreak that can make one lose interest in what they could be doing at that time.
4. Non- localization
Physical pain affects a certain part of the body whereas emotional pain moves to all parts of the body and lead to other health problems. For instance, in case you have a cold, you are aware which parts are affected while emotional pain will make all parts of your body weak. You will tend to have sleeping problems, attention deficits, or even headaches.
