A secondary school teacher suspected to have raped a form two student inside a lodging in Machakos town was apprehended on Saturday by police officers.
The suspect who works at Iluvya Secondary School is reported to have met the girl on January 5, 2020, in Machakos town.
He allegedly led the victim into the lodging the same day of the meeting where he sexually abused her. The suspect left the girl in the room after defiling her.
Police officers found the suspect at his house when they went to arrest him.
Machakos Sub-County District Criminal Investigation Officer Rhoda Kanyi claimed the suspect was being held in police custody and was undergoing interrogation.
A letter written by the school principal of Iluvya Secondary School confirms that the teacher hired the room where he committed the crime.
“On January 5, it was reported that you met the Form II student in Machakos town and that you hired a room and had sex with her. This goes against the principles of good conduct for teachers,” the letter read as quoted by The Standard.
Copies of the letter were also sent to the secretary of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), TSC Machakos County director and the Board of Management chairman, Iluvya Secondary School.
