President Uhuru Kenyatta, businessman Jimi Wanjigi, Baringo Senator Gideon Moi and Citizen TV news anchor Jeff Koinange share a common thing that is perhaps not known to most members of the public.
The four schooled at the prestigious St Mary’s School in Nairobi, albeit during different years.
On Friday, October 11, 2019, the school marked 80 years since its establishment and all the four were in attendance.
During his address, the Head of State urged Kenyans to support their former schools in what he said was form of giving back to the society.
“Institutions however great their history, are kept alive and relevant by people. The ways in which, we alumni, can support this our alma mater are boundless,” said the President.
He recalled how his time in the school moulded him into what he is today.
“For many of us who stood at attention during assembly in this very quadrangle or ran through its corridors to get to our next class, we can never forget that St Mary’s gave us so much, moulded us, introduced us to lifelong friends and gave us the tools and confidence to be all that we are today,” he said.
St Mary’s school is managed by the Catholic Church, and it is famous for developing students academically, spiritually and physically.
