A 12-year-old body shocked villagers of Bogwendo in Manga, Nyamira County after he hanged himself using a rope on Saturday evening.
Confirming the incident, area chief Daniel Kibeni said the deceased Omwega Nyangaresi went missing for the better part of Saturday evening only for his body to be discovered at 8pm.
"Nyangaresi has been a calm and hardworking boy. He didn't quarrel with anyone only that he went missing prompting family members to search him everywhere only for his body to be found hanging from the roof of his grandmother's house by his elder brother," said Kebeni.
Kibeni assured that police officers from Manga have launched probe to establish what led the boy to commit suicide.
He called on parents in the area to guide their children and counsel them anytime they are faced with difficulties.
The chief urged school going children to open up whenever they have problems, adding that such moves would help families curb suicide cases by a larger extent.
"The body of the deceased was moved to Nyamira County hospital morgue," said the chief.
