Politicians writing off Raila Odinga in the race to State House in 2022 are 'fools', Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka has said.
Even after insisting that he is not interested in the race, his close confidants especially Senator James Orengo have backed him for the top seat.
And Onyonka, who was elected on Ford Kenya ticket, said Raila's underground cards with Mt. Kenya leaders could portray him as the best option.
"Central Kenya will play an important role in 2022. They are not likely to field a serious candidate but whoever they will support will succeed Uhuru.
"Raila is a formidable force. His recent meetings with Central Kenya leaders could build him as an alternative candidate thus giving him an opportunity," he argued.
The third term MP said Raila's popularity in Coast, Nyanza, Western, North Eastern coupled with Mt. Kenya could prove difficult for DP William Ruto.
Elders from Mt. Kenya recently said they do not owe Ruto any political debt and insisted that they will negotiate with all candidates.
