Deputy President William Ruto will arrive in Nyamira on Friday but will not be welcomed by county Governor John Nyagarama, it has emerged.
West Mugirango MP Vincent Kemosi and his Borabu counterpart Ben Momanyi confirmed Ruto's trip, his first to the region this year.
In a statement, Kemosi asked residents to turn up in large numbers for Dr Ruto's function, adding that preparations have been finalised.
"On Friday, DP William Ruto will be our guest around. You are all invited to attend three of his functions in our constituency," he said.
Dr Ruto will launch construction of Nyaigesa TTC before commissioning newly built West Mugirango constituency offices. He will attend fundraisers at Nyamira Catholic and Mokomoni District in Borabu.
However, Governor Nyagarama, the host, will not be present according to Communication Director Kefa Miller. The governor is in Nairobi for an official function.
"H. E Nyagarama will not be around. He's in Nairobi where he is attending an official function. However, his absence will not hinder the function," he said.
Incidentally, Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i, a close ally of the governor, cancelled his Nyamira trip where he was to commission police headquarters in Keroka.
Sources claim that Dr Matiang'i decided to call off the function because many leaders had planned to attend Dr Ruto's events across the county.
