According to the Standard, the former Lamu woman representative is among the politicians who lost in the 2017 general elections that are set to benefit from government appointments

Abdala, a veteran politician in Coast politics, saw her political ascendancy cut short in 2017 after losing her seat to Jubilee Party's Ruweida Obbo.

She, however, remains an influential member of the Kalonzo Musyoka-led party where she is the party's deputy leader.

According to the local daily, Abdala is set to serve as chairperson of the Child Welfare Society, a state corporation charged with the responsibility to take care of children welfare.

The appointment will no doubt give the former MP a political footing heading into the 2022 election where she may be keen to make a swift comeback.

The new appointments are said to be a confirmation that the handshake between ODM leader Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta is set to save the dwindling political fortunes of some of the 2017 poll losers.
