Mwangi Maribe, the father to estranged TV anchor Jacque Maribe, has accused the police of discriminating her daughter in the investigations towards the death of business lady, Monica Kimani.
Ms. Maribe along with her fiance Joseph Irungu were detained as detectives intensified the search for Ms. Kimani's killers.
And for the first time since news about the death broke, Mr. Maribe says her daughter may have been a victim by circumstances due to love.
“Police want to become famous by nailing a celebrity. That is why my daughter is in custody. Her neighbour, Brian Kassaine, also has a partner. Why is she not in custody? Her biggest mistake was falling in love,” he said.
He added: “The day after Monica’s murder, my daughter read the same piece of news at Citizen. How callous can she be to participate in a murder and have the courage to read the news? That is not the girl we raised."
Irungu, a trained mercenary, is said to have been driving Ms. Maribe's vehicle which has since been taken for dusting when the murder took place at Kilimani.
Evidence given by two of Irungu's neighbours indicated that he was in the murder scene that evening.
Maribe, who has since been taken to Gigiri police station, is drawn into the murder after it was established that she burnt clothes that her fiancé was reportedly putting on at the time of murder.
She was reportedly sent to a compulsory payable leave by her employer, Citizen TV.
Prosecutors are working on evidence to charge the two of murder, a move that Mr. Maribe disputes.
