In yet another light moment in court, Justice James Wakiaga caused laughter when he described Joseph Irungu alias Jowie as 'male version of sly queen' as the murder probe of Monica Kimani took an interesting twist.
In his lengthy ruling, Justice Wakiaga denied Irungu bail on grounds that he will use his antics towards women to compromise investigations.
"We will start with the first accused. Is he a flight risk who is likely to abscond the jurisdiction of this court? The picture that emerges from the prosecution's evidence as set out herein above, and that the bail report of the accused, is that he is a male version of slay queen.
"Which, for lack of better terminology, I will call a woman-eater. He was living in the house of the second accused driving the second accused's car with no known source of income since 2017 when he provided security for some Jubilee politicians," he said.
Irungu's fiance Jacque Maribe was released on Sh1 million cash bail but was banned from bouncing back on TV screens until the murder probe is over.
Mr. Irungu, through lawyer Cliff Ombeta, protested the ruling and vowed to appeal. Ombeta termed the grounds issued by judge as 'flimsy'.
The two denied involvement in the murder of Monica Kimani, with Maribe seemingly distancing herself from Irungu.
As Maribe, who termed her incarceration as 'being guilty of love, not murder' walks to freedom, Jowie will remain remanded at Industrial Area prison until the commencement of the hearing.
