Criminal gangs and robbery suspects in Kisumu are now facing death, County Commissioner Pauline Dola has noted.
Speaking during Jamhuri Day Celebrations at the Kenyatta Stadium on Wednesday, the police boss ordered her officers to shoot gangsters with an aim to kill.
This, she said, is one of the mechanisms the force is employing in a bid to eliminate the organized gangs that have been troubling and terrorizing locals in the county.
She warned the gangs which she noted have been robbing people at gun point, others operating aboard motorbikes, saying that there will be no mercy for criminals going forward.
“We know there have been insecurity concerns caused largely by the return of organized crime. We know of armed motorcycle gangs, which have been disrupting peace and robbing residents at gun point. We are going to get rid of you,” she was quoted by the Standard.
This comes at a time when robbery and burglary seem to be hitting the ceiling in the county, a trend that recently saw a police officer assaulted and his gun and belongings stolen.
Just two days ago, suspected robbers reportedly raped and killed a retired teacher identified as Kore Abudho at her home in Rabuor.
