Linda Nchi Spokesman Colonel (Rtd) Cyrus Oguna was on Tuesday appointed the new government spokesman to replace outgoing Eric Kiraithe.
The appointment has elicited mixed reactions from Kenyans all over with flamboyant City Lawyer Donald Kipkorir stating that the handshake played a big role in Oguna's appointment.
"Before the Handshake, Eric Kiraithe would never have been sacked & replaced with a Cyrus Oguna. Those who don’t believe in a new Kenya need epiphany like that of Thomas. For Believers like me, it’s heavenly to be alive at this time witnessing New Kenya," tweeted Kipkorir.
In a statement by ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru on Tuesday, the office of the Government Spokesperson shall be under ICT Ministry and its role will include content oversight of news gathering and dissemination channels by the government.
“In line with directions from the Executive Office of the President through the Head of Public Service, the office of the Government Spokesman shall be domiciled at the Ministry of Information, Communication and Technology,” reads part of the statement that was tweeted the Ministry of ICT.
