The late athletic icon Nyantika Mayioro will be buried next week Friday, 8 March 2019, Kisii county Deputy Governor Joash Maangi has said.
Maangi while speaking on Wednesday when he joined governor James Ongwae to host the bereaved family team and burial organizing committee of the late athletic icon said Nyantika will be given a decent send-off.
"We will support the family to ensure the late is given a decent send-off," said Maangi.
He urged residents to ignore lies being peddled on social media that the county government of Kisii abandoned the deceased in hospital.
"Some people are throwing insults to us claiming that we abandoned the deceased in hospital. This is not time we should blame each but, it is time we should join hands together to give the late a good send-off," he stated.
Maangi who has declared an interest to run for Kisii gubernatorial seat wondered why Nyantika's dead is being politicized.
"It is shameful for some leaders to politicize Nyantika's death. Let us respect Nyantika now that he is not with us. Blaming each other won't help the family during these cold times," he added.
