Apparently, Kuria became furious after President Kenyatta quashed a developmental project the MP wanted for Kiambu County.

The Sh2.8 billion road project was rejected by Uhuru to the heartbreak of the vocal MP who, interestingly, represents the President’s constituency.

According to the Standard, on July 10, 2018, Kuria wrote to the Director General of the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) Luka Kimeli on the route the road would take.

When Kimeli sought the opinion of Infrastructure PS Julius Korir on the project, it was rejected on the basis of the ‘President’s wishes’.

The response, according to the paper, was titled; “Presidential directive on links passing through Kinare forest”.

“As you are aware we have been directed that the road through Kinare forest should be excluded from the works under this contract.”

It added: “In this regard, you are requested to omit, from the contract, the roads passing the forest and request you to prepare a revised scope of the roads to be covered in the contract without altering the original length in the contract.”

Moses Kuria wanted the road project to cover the Kibichoi-Kigongo-Kiganjo/Mundoro-Flyover/Gachika, Flyover/Kigaa, Thegi/Kiamwangi-Kahnia-karembu/D424-Wamita-Gacharage/Kagera-Kigongo/E499Mundoro-Gachika route which was rejected.

The ‘President’s wish’ only covered Marige-Kiratina-Gathiruini-Githioro-Gatana-Mungere-Nyanduma/Gituamba-Gitombu-PCEA Kiagi Church route which was shorter.

This, it seems, is one of the reasons why Kuria felt Uhuru was denying a region that gave him a fanatical support a raw deal when it comes to development.
