Uhuru added: "The only way we could unite Kenya is by coming together and this is what we have done. Those hurling insults are wasting time. We cannot continue to do things the same way all the time."

At the undisclosed location in Mombasa, Uhuru was pictured with Raila Odinga's family members among them Oburu Oginga, Ruth Odinga, Ida Odinga, Rosemary Odinga along with the leaders from Mombasa County led by Governor Hassan Joho.

Earlier, Raila insisted that his peace truce with Uhuru is unstoppable, adding that those against it should change tact and embrace it for the sake of development.

He said:"This is the right thing for this country. It has nothing to do with 2022 politics. The elections will come and go but Kenya shall remain and that's the fact. Let's support unity and development."
