Kabaka later vowed to work closely with Governor Alfred Mutua during the latter's oathing ceremony for the best interest of Machakos residents, unlike his predecessor Johnstone Muthama who constantly "fought" with the governor.Unlike Muthama, Kabaka is silent and least heard in matters that concern the county.

The electorates do not feel Kabaka's existence at all.

During the East African Portland Cement Company's land row in Athi River, residents called upon local leaders to fight for them but only Mavoko MP Patrick Makau and Machakos County Assembly's Majority Leader Mark Mwendo were seen.

Residents have constantly asked why the senator isn't seen at all.

The residents say that the former senator kept the county leadership on it's toes but the new one is silent about the happenings in the county.

"Where's is our Senator? We elected him but we rarely hear him. Many people no longer remember him, we haven't heard of since we voted him during the 2017 polls," said Kimwele, a youth from Mitaboni.

"Kabaka has lost touch with us. He should come out at least and address some of the issues facing the county," Kimwele added.
