Sonko says that he will continue discharging his duties as governor from his Mua home in Machakos.

According to the flamboyant Nairobi governor, City Hall is not safe for him.

The governor says that he will only return to City when he is sure of his safety.

He notes that though City Hall is the gazetted county headquarters, it is no longer safe for him.

“I cannot be forced to go by back there (City Hall) when I know my security is not guaranteed,” the governor said on Tuesday.

Last week, Nairobi MCAs gave Sonko two weeks ultimatum to return to City Hall.

The MCAs said that it is unconstitutional for Sonko to discharge Nairobi county functions in another county.

A section of MCAs have even vowed to initiate impeachment motion against Sonko if he fails to return to City Hall.

Governor Sonko moved from City Hall to his Mua home in May after the government withdrew some of the security personnel deployed to him.

Sonko has been discharging majority of county activities including meetings with MCAs and County Executive officers from his Machakos home.
