Here are the several Luo sub-tribes and the qualities of their men.

1. Kano 

They are strong and powerful, hence the Luo jibe 'Jokano tek to tar' (Kano men are strong and dusty), the dust referring to tough jobs they do under the scorching sun to provide for their families.

Kano men are known for their cultivation prowess, hence the thriving maize, rice and sugarcane farming in their Muhoroni and Nyando constituencies in Kisumu county.

They wake up at dawn to attend to their rice fields, and are the best as far as providing and protecting the family is concerned. With a Kano man, you will never sleep hungry.

2. Karachuonyo

Jokarachuonyo are from Homabay county. The region commands the biggest portion of the fishing industry as it almost entirely touches Lake Victoria.

Most Luos from Karachuonyo who grew up in the village are strong courtesy of the tough job of tilling and fishing, again assuring their woman and children of their safety.

Having dealt with the currents of the lake and the myths of satanic beings living inside the water body, they are daring and brave, a characteristic each woman desires and deserves.

3. Nyakach

Jonyakach hail from Nyakach constituency, Kisumu County.

They deal with dry, rocky and hard land each year as a result of the rare rainfall in the region but still manage to make a harvest, making them a good option.

They are resilient.

They are also among the best in terms of physical appearance.

They above characteristics, make men from the three sub-tribes the best to marry from the Luo region. This, however, does not mean that the rest are not good to marry.
