Trade and Industrialization Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya has faulted a section of Mt Kenya leaders following their criticism towards BBI report.
Building Bridges Initiative team is set to submit recommendations to President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga this coming week, after which Kenyans will give their views.
On Friday, Munya accused DP William Ruto's Mt Kenya allies of premature debate, arguing that they should wait for the report to come out.
The former Meru governor said there is nothing wrong with Parliamentary system of government, arguing that leadership should not be a preserve of certain regions.
"BBI report has not come out. It's funny that some people are discussing it yet we haven't seen it. It appears to me that these people have a hidden agenda. The objectives of BBI are straight forward.
"Anybody opposing it is an enemy. There is no system that is bad. You can't hold meetings and say that as a region you're sidelined. The issue of inclusivity and divisive elections is something that must be looked at," he said.
On Thursday, at least 40 Mt Kenya leaders threatened to block implementation of BBI report, arguing that the region is not ready for Parliamentary system.
“When we talk about inclusivity, it must be reflected even in representation in Parliament and other spheres. We must have correct number of seats in Parliament that represent our population,” the leaders said in a statement read by Ndaragwa MP Jeremiah Kioni.
President Uhuru Kenyatta has vowed to popularise the report once it's out, arguing that uniting the country is one of his legacy that he's building on.
