He says this will prevent people from stealing livestock from the county and transporting them at night to different parts of the country to sell them.

“From today, Saturday, we have banned the transportation of cattle at night and anyone who will be found doing contrary to that will face the full force of the law. The ban is on until further notice,” said Jaldesa.

Jaldesa who spoke to the press in Eldoret town on Saturday said the ban was prompted by the arrest of 12 cattle at pioneer on Friday night.

The police impounded the 12 cattle which were loaded in a lorry and are now being held at Langas Police station in Kapseret Sub-County.

“We will not allow anyone to transport animals past 6 pm and not earlier than 6 am. This will ensure that only licensed livestock will be transported from one place to another. We want to ensure that cases of livestock theft in the county are a thing of the past,” added the Uasin Gishu County Commissioner.

Jaldesa further called on the residents to act as their watchdog by reporting anyone transporting livestock promising that stern action will be taken against them.
