Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka is among the top politicians who have declared their interests in contesting for the 2022 presidential seat.
The Ukambani political kingpin has been severally quoted stating that 2022 will be his time to be the Kenyan President.
The former Vice President, however, faces stiff competition and even rebellion in his bid to be the country’s 5th President.
Some of Kalonzo’s close political allies have shown signs of abandoning him.
Kalonzo is now a politician under political siege if recent happenings in Ukambani region, his backyard is anything to go by.
Kiambu based political analyst Peter Ngure says Kalonzo needs to quickly put his house in order if he is serious in contesting for the presidential seat in the next general elections.
Ngure notes that the formation of Peoples Empowerment Movement (PEM) by Ukambani governors two weeks ago is a blow to Kalonzo’s political future.
As Kalonzo strategizes on how to contest in the 2022 presidential election, here are three things he should do to redeem himself and increase chances of clinching the top seat:
1. Seek endorsements
The Wiper leader will stand a higher chance of winning the top seat if he is endorsed by top politicians.
Kalonzo should consider approaching top leaders like President Uhuru Kenyatta for endorsement.
2. Sign partnership and alliances
The former Vice President can easily win in 2022 polls if he partners with other like-minded politicians.
He can sign partnerships and pacts with other leaders who are willing to support his presidential bid.
Kalonzo has options and can reach out to politicians like Baringo Senator Gideon Moi and Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho, among others for partnership in 2022.
3. Re-brand his party
Kalonzo should think of re-branding his party as he plans to contest for the top seat.
He also needs to stamp authority in his party and root out alleged wrangles and rebellion among party members.
Unless the former Vice President acts fast, he stands zero chance of clinching the presidential seat in 2022 elections.
