This is in relation to controversies that surrounded the gazettement of a holiday for the Idd ul Adha celebrations.

Addressing the press in Eldoret town on Wednesday after the celebrations, the Muslim leaders led the Uasin Gishu Council of Imams and Preachers of Kenya (CIPK) chairman Sheikh Abubakar Bini asked Duale to stop politicizing religious matters.

“It is sad that every time when Muslims have celebrations he (Duale) is the first one to condemn the Chief Kadhi's office, which is against our teachings,” said Bini.

He also warned that regular attacks against the Muslim top leadership by the Garissa Township Member of Parliament may lead to divisions amongst the Muslim community who depend on the Cheif Kadhi for interpretation of various religious issues among them Eid dates.

“I want to call upon Duale to leave the Chief Kadhi’s office alone. It is not good for politicians to be involved in matters that relate to our Islamic doctrines,” said Bini.

Muslims across the world on Wednesday celebrated Idd ul Adha to mark the end of pilgrimage that evolves around activities of Abraham and his son.

However, some of the Muslim community in the country marked the day on Tuesday which the government gazetted as a public holiday.
