Viona Kemunto Marucha as she is called was offered full sponsorship to join form one at Nyabururu Girls National school by Governor Ongwae as announced on Friday by the county government.

"Kemunto's case touched my heart. She nearly failed to join school due to lack of school fees. I decided to look into her case and my government has offered her full scholarship," said the governor.

Ongwae assured residents of the county that his administration will continue helping needy but, bright children to join schools for the sake of brightening their future.

"My government is initiating a working scholarship programme that will see this extended to similar cases in future. No child should drop out of school for failure to raise school fees," said the county boss.

He challenged parents to ensure their children remain in school throughout.

"Parents unable to pay school fees for their children should seek support from local leaders and apply county or constituency bursaries," he added.

The ODM allied governor challenged local leaders to be at the front line championing for education.

"Leaders must prioritize education for our children and not engage in politics. We also need to educate children who will be our future leaders," said Ongwae.
